This year’s holidays, I’ve been struggling a lot with OCD. We all had the flu over Christmas Eve and the whole week after that. I slept in a home office while my family slept in the bedroom so we wouldn’t keep each other awake when coughing. I feared for the lives of my family and wanted them to get well soon so we could be together.
I’m not far from the truth when I say that this holiday season, my OCD was very strong and had me in its grip. It was not easy. Easily, it was one of the hardest ends of the year in terms of health and family time. I hated 2023.
Why did it all get so intense? Because I was afraid and feared what might happen. To be honest, I was exhausted from the way I lived my life in 2023. It did me no good. And since we have a new year coming, we can try to move on and reach a new level with our decisions, beliefs, the way we act, and the way we are.
If not now, when? It’s the best time to strive for the things and skills we want to achieve. It’s another opportunity for us to take a look at ourselves in the mirror and realize what needs to be done.
Here’s my list:
– Lose a couple of pounds
– Tame OCD
– Start a business
– Make and release music on a regular basis
– Be the best dad and partner in the world
– Stay calm
– Have an overview of my life
What’s on your list?
Please consider supporting me at “Buy Me a Coffee” or directly through the Stripe Transaction Portal if you can. You do not have to register with any of the services. Every penny counts. I write this blog in my spare time, but with your help, I’d love to have serious conversations with experts who deal with OCD and respond to you with the knowledge and stories I’d gather.
I consider this blog a calling. I never realized that before. But now I know what my calling is, and I want to continue to improve and help us better manage our OCD. I know how limiting OCD is. I’ve lived with it for more than 24 years. It’s time to learn as much as we can about this disorder to not only cope with it, but to actually get better.
If you help me by donating or becoming a member, my path with this blog can change so I can focus more on what really matters. Plus, you’ll be part of a supportive community of people who understand what you’re going through and want to help you.
